An exciting trip to get a Visa, food and more!
Glynis here. We just want to thank everyone who has taken a few minutes to email our boy. He really appreciates it! So do we. Here is his epistle for this week. I've tried to clean it up, but I didn't want to take away too much of his personality. Enjoy!
If you'd like to email Jacob, his address is: jacob.neves@myldsmail.net

Hellllloooooooo everyone! Everything is awesome here in Peru but this was a really weird week.
So I was on a bus on Wednesday on my way to get my passport back and to get my Visa approved here. It was so nuts, because the lanes here in Peru on the roads are only as wide as the cars themselves! Like exactly! It's horrifying even being in a car here let alone driving, so I’m glad there are no cars where I'm going. Anyway, I don't know if it was shock or if I was genuinely sick but this car almost hit us and there were horns going off everywhere. Well, I suppose that part isn't weird here. Seriously, everyone drives with one hand on the wheel and the other on the horn. Anyway, I digress, we almost got hit and I threw up on the bus and it was horrible. I felt so bad, ha-ha but it was all fine.
The food here is so good, it’s a whole ton of rice, which I usually can't eat it all, and eggs are on everything. And I mean everything. Also a weird thing that the Peruvians all do is put... mayonnaise... on everything. Seriously it is everything. My companion put mayonnaise on his salad. And they put it on everything else too. The only thing I haven't seen them put mayo on is ice cream and that’s no exaggeration. I’ve even seen it put on cake. So that's kind of gross but it cracks me up every time we head to the cafeteria.
My Spanish is improving so much and I can't wait to get out into the field. This is my final week here so next time I email you guys I'll be in the jungle finally. It feels like I've been here for so long, when in reality I've only been here 2 weeks. I'm learning so much and I love to hear from you guys. I just really wish I had more time to email all of you. Hopefully they'll give us a little more time when we get out into the field.
Here we practice teaching to investigators, like knocking on doors and coming up to people sitting on a bench and sharing a short message with them. Its pretty cool, but also so hard, because my Spanish sucks compared to my native companion from Lima. Ha-ha! But seriously, Elder Sedano is like the best. He helps me through everything, like if I'm missing my family or anything he always is there to help and we pray together very often. So, yeah, I can't thank him enough.
Today I went to the temple for the last time for 2 years, because there is no temple in my mission. I had an awesome time but I know I am going to be doing the work of the lord. There was a person selling stuff through the gate of the temple, because the missionaries aren't allowed to leave the grounds. Anyway I bought 2 ties from him because they were so cool.
Anyway love you guys and I hope you all have an awesome week, especially because I know school just started for most of you. If you guys know anyone that want to get my emails just give them to Mary or my mom or pretty much anyone that knows my mom because she forwards these out. Have a great time back in the USA and I love you guys! Have a great week and may God be with you!!
-Elder Neves... or as the natives call me Elder Naybays. Hehe
PS the pictures are gold, well some of them. The bigger guy is elder Barra/Apaza, and he's funny!
