Travel in Moyobamba, advice from a Seventy, and appendicitis (but not for Jacob)!

Glynis here: Thanks to all of you who have taken a moment to drop a note to Jacob. He loves getting messages from home! It really helps him to know that people are thinking about him. If any of you are interested in snail mailing him, I know that he would appreciate that! I can get any of you his address. Just let me know.
Hello to all of you at home! We "meet" again! How are you? I'm doing really good! I love my area and the people that we are teaching.
We had a really good week. It all started with a multi-zone conference. The thing about our mission is that because it's so big, the normal "zone conferences" are actually multi-zone conferences. The zones from Moyobamba, Tarapoto, and Aeropuerto all got together for a conference. The drive from Moyobamba to Tarapoto was about two and a half hours. Luckily, we stopped to get some bread on the way! One elder from our zone bought 10 soles worth of bread. In terms you can understand, he bought about 50 breadsticks! I don't know why he did it, but it was hilarious!
Once we got to tarapoto, the conference was awesome. We had messages from Presidente Li and his wife, and also a General Authority, Elder Gavarret from the Seventy. He gave us some good advice to help our investigators come to church. He told us from the very first contact with the investigator, we should be picturing that person entering the temple, all dressed in white, ready to make the sacred covenants with our Father in Heaven. If we do that, we will see them as our brothers and sisters, who are all children of God.
Another thing that happened this wee was that one of the Elders from Nueva Cajamarca, got his appendix removed. He is here in Moyobamba in the house of the other Elders. He is recovering well, but isn't allowed to go out to contact or proselyte. Therefore, the other Elders haven't been able to go out to work. So, now what we are doing is taking turns "babysitting" the Elder. That way, the Elders from the other branch can go out to proselyte. It has been so funny, but SO boring! It means I've had a couple of days of pure study time. It's been L O N G!
Anyway, I'm happy here. I feel good, about my mission, and we have a lot of people that are progressing and coming to church. We have some baptisms set up for Saturday. Keep us in your prayers that it will all work out without a hitch!
That's all for this week, folks! I hope you all have a great week. Let me know how you all are doing.
