More Tender Mercies

Christmas conference, torrential rain, and transfers

Glynis here: We are getting so close to celebrating our second Christmas without Jacob. Last year at this time, I felt like the mission was dragging, and I wasn't sure how I would handle two full years of absence. This year, however, we are looking at the end of his mission (7 months), and I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. He has grown so much, and become such a spiritual young man. I'm so grateful for the tender mercies of the Lord in taking care of Jacob, and teaching him humility and love for his fellow men.
Hello, everyone,
This week was really good. We had our Christmas conference with President and Sister Parker, and it was really cool. We focused on Christ's purpose, specifically why he was born, which was to atone for our sins. It was really cool, we talked about symbolism with olive oil and the Garden of Gethsemane, and we also each crushed some olives and made oil out of them. It was a really cool conference. The sisters in my district were crying as we crushed the olives and talked about the atonement. It was really powerful.
Another quick story, so yesterday it was raining super duper hard. Like so much rain. We were out proselyting and we hid under a tree so we didn't get too wet, I said a prayer in my mind so that the rain could let up so we could keep going, and I felt like we should just go out into the rain and the Lord would do the rest. We went out and guess what... it kept raining! Super hard! It got even worse as we walked.
We knocked on a door and someone opened it up and told us to come on in to get out of the rain. We went in and we taught them about the atonement, and the reason behind Christmas, and they invited us to come back anytime. It was really cool. I learned a great lesson: even though I wanted it to stop raining, God had a different plan, and it turned out to be way better. Anyway, there's some food for thought. It was cool.
My companion and I are doing really well. Today was transfers, but we are both staying put! Woo hoo! A lot of the people in my district got a change though, and most of the mission got reorganized; seriously, all the zones and districts were re-done. It is going to be really interesting.
Anyway, I love you guys. I hope you all have a good week, and a Merry Christmas!!!!
