Jungle service, a new family of investigators, and a record number of investigators at church.

Glynis here: Jacob continues to sound great in his letters! We are so grateful for all the prayers on his behalf. We know that they are being heard and answered. Timothy has been having nightmares about Jacob not coming home from Peru, and has really needed to have Jacob tell him not to worry. I'm so grateful for email so that these 2 brothers can communicate and stay close. Jacob promised he'd be safe and come home in just 18 months! It's amazing how just a couple of lines in an email can really make a difference.

Still no phone calls from our Elder. Logistically, it just doesn't seem like it's going to work out for us, right now. Perhaps later, when he's in a different area, but it's just too hard for him to find reliable internet at the time he's allowed to use it. So, until we can hear from him, we'll be grateful for the Internet and count our blessings!

Hey everyone!

I hope you are all doing well. This week just flew by, but not that much super exciting stuff happened. I mean, being in the jungle is pretty cool, but it gets old (just kidding, it never gets old!). Mom asked me to talk about the differences between Moyobamba and Iquitos, so I'll try. Iquitos is basically El Inferno! Not really, it's just super hot and the houses there are pretty sketchy. Here in Moyo, the weather is pleasant. It has it's hot moments, but generally it's pretty cool. In fact, in the mornings it can get downright cold! The food is basically the same in both places. The only difference is that here they eat guinea pig. We haven't tried it yet, but i think our pensionista is going to make it this week!

Transfers are today, but I think I will most likely stay here one or maybe two more transfers. I like it here, so I'm ok with that! Still, it's up to President Li (and the Lord), and I'll go where I'm needed.

This week was pretty good. We have a lot of families that are progressing and that are coming to church, and that's awesome! We have been on the search for families for a while now, and we have found a goodly amount, so yay!

We've found that one of the best ways to find new people is to go to the list of old investigators. We were doing that one day this week, and we came across a family called, La Familia Vilka Olascuaga. There are 5 of them in this family. They were going to be baptized 2 years ago, but something happened and they never did it. We decided to visit them, and we came right when they needed some help. We knocked on the door, and the mom came out. Her name is Maria. She invited us to come in and they told us they are passing through a difficult time. we shared a message about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and set up another appointment with them. Well, the whole family came to church yesterday! We actually had a total of 8 investigators at church which is like a record breaker for me! Really, though, this is a great family, and if you guys could keep them in your prayers, that would be great! The names of the whole family are, Maria, Jose, Vanesa, Tatiana, and Jeriko. Please keep them in your prayers.

Another cool thing we did this week was to go to our ward mission leader's house. I know that sounds lame, but his house is in the middle of the jungle, about 30 minutes outside of the city. We went there to do some service. We poured him a cement floor, and also built a sheet metal wall for his house. Don't ask me how you manage to do that with a machete, but that's what we did. Here in Peru, a machete is basically the universal tool. They use it for everything!

Well, not much more happened this week, but I am having a great time, learning a lot, and feeling the Spirit. I sure do miss and love you guys! I hope you all have a great week!

Love,

Elder Neves
