A trip back to Iquitos for Council, planning 2 more marriages, and a crazy invasion right next door!

Glynis here: I profoundly apologize for the lack of letters the last couple of weeks. Jacob's grandfather passed away, and our hands have been busy. While we miss Grandpa dearly, we know he is proud of our Elder, and would want him to finish his mission out strong! How grateful we are for technology and a wise mission president who allowed Jacob to Facetime us during the viewing, and then allowed him to watch the live stream of the funeral. It helped Jacob feel more a part of things while still serving the Lord.
This week was pretty great! So, for some reason, President Parker decided that this transfer all of the district leaders, as well as the zone leaders, were going to travel to Iquitos for the leadership council, now called council of ministers. It was really awesome! Elder Veach stayed in a trio with the Elders in our house, while I flew out to Iquitos for 2 days. I stayed with the office Elders so I got to be in my old house. Late at night Elder Trythall had to go to the office to buy some emergency flight so I went with him, and I'm not going to lie, it was weird to be in the office again. I sat in my old chair and it just felt like home.
The council with President and Sister Parker was awesome! I learned so many things about how to minister to my missionaries and I am excited to ponerlos en práctica (put them into practice). I also got to see an old member from my old ward Dennis who was there bringing the refreshments for council.
Back in Pucallpa, we are working with 2 different families to get them married this transfer. One of them is Sulema Pinedo; her boyfriend is a member and they are going to get married on Feb. 14, and then she will get baptized on the 15th with their daughter. Well, as long as everything goes according to the plan. Elder Veach and I are going to go around to a few places today to figure out how to do it. Also remember the familia Hidalgo Acho? They are the Shipibo family; they also have a baptismal date now for the 7th of March, so that will be the last week of this transfer. They would get married on the 6th. They are excited for it, but we don't want them to feel pressured into it, or that it's too fast, so we are going to see how it goes with them. I just hope don't get transferred so I can see their baptism. I love them so much and I want to see them make that covenant with God. Keep them in your prayers.
In other news: there used to be a huge field right outside of our house, and basically how things in the the jungle work, is that if the owner is gone for a while, people invade; they just go and build a little house and claim the land as their own. It usually ends really badly. The police get involved with tear gas and sometimes with guns. So, I'll keep you posted on how that goes. There is a massive invasion of people right outside our house, and all the neighbors are saying that there is going to be a massive fight with the police... we are prepared, I guess. This is war!
I love you guys. Have a great week!

Glynis again: Since I missed a couple of weeks, I'm going to put both letters into one post. Enjoy!
Hey everyone,
This week has been interesting. A lot of good things are happening in our area. This upcoming week on Friday, our investigator Sulema will get married to her partner Roberto who is a member, and she and her daughter will be baptized on Saturday. The hardest part now is just coordinating with the ward to make sure it is a good experience.
We also had a noche de hogar (Family Home Evening) with them this week to celebrate her daughter's birthday. it was very good, and they had a good time. Also turns out that Sulema was an old investigator of Elder Argyle´s like a year ago when he was in Pucallpa and she couldn't get baptized then but is now, so that is really cool.
Also this week I went to a city called Campo Verde outside of Pucallpa to go on splits with Elder Harline from my district. It was really cool! Campo Verde is just pure jungle, like even more so than my area, so that was fun.
Well, I'm excited to talk to you all today, Love you guys a ton!

Glynis again: Well, one more letter came before I could get this posted, so I'll put all 3 together. Thanks again for your patience with me, at this time. I promise I'll do better.
NO WEDDING, THE ZONE CONFERENCE, AND A MONKEY
Hi, everyone,
So, we will start off with the bad news. We didn't have our Valentine wedding and baptism this week. Roberto (the husband) is in another city right now, Puerto Maldonado, and he didn't have enough money to buy a plane ticket home. Luckily, this week he should have gotten paid by now, and he should be here by Wednesday for his marriage and his wife's baptism on Saturday. We are still really excited for them, and I think it is good that we have a little more time to coordinate with our ward to do the wedding and baptism.
Another thing that happened this week, was while we were out in our area, we decided to go to an old investigator, Mónica and Jonathan. We got there and we helped them fry some plantains then they came out with their pet monkey! I held it, it tried to escape but I had it by it's tail. It also peed all over me, but at least I held a monkey, so that's nice. Luckily I had my camera with me so I was able to get some pictures of it.
This week was also our zone conference with President and Sister Parker, and I learned a ton. I look up to President and Sister Parker so much, they are so loving and they help so much with la obra misional (the missionary work). We talked about a lot of the same things we talked about when I flew out to Iquitos, so it was good for my district to hear it straight from the President himself.
Well, I love you guys a ton, I hope you have a great week, and feel free to email me! I appreciate every email I get!
