New investigators, old investigators and a personal goal reached!

Since there were no new pictures, enjoy this one of our handsome Elder!

Glynis here: Sorry there are no pictures in this week's update. He was having some issues with the computer and wasn't able to get them included. Still, he was able to send this awesome update, so enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all of you and the support you give our Elder.

Hi, everyone!

This week, we felt that we really needed to find some more investigators. We have been praying to find new people, but for some reason it had been really hard. The people didn't want to listen and they would shut the door on us. We decided to pray to find some families, and afterward we both felt we should head for the street called Trujillo (like the city). We always walk up and down this street, almost the whole day long, and we have contacted there many times, but there were never really any results. This time was different. We found 3 part member families! These are really the best kind of investigators, because they can see how happy the church makes their family, and they are more willing to change. So, we found 3 families!!! We were so happy and I know the Lord listened to our prayer and guided us to them.

Also this week, we were looking through our area book and came across a sister named Giovanna. She is an old investigator from the missionaries who were here over a year ago. We felt a desire to look for her and to see how she is doing, and to ask if we could share a message with her. We found her, and she invited us to come in. She told us that the missionaries had visited her several times before, and she also said that they have always seemed to come to her when she is going through a rough time. Right now she is going through a hard time in her family. Her husband lives in Lima and she lives here with her 3 children, and she also works. She had been praying for someone to come help her and then we showed up and knocked on her door. To me, it shows that God prepares us to be instruments in His hands before we even know it. We looked in the area book and God told us that she needed help, before she even asked for it. God knows each one of us personally, and is preparing paths for us. We can only find those paths if we are paying attention to the Spirit.

I've decided I like to be straightforward with people. When I'm honest, and I tell things to people the way they are, the Spirit testifies to them and they believe. For example, I decided I like telling people straight up that our end goal is to help them to make covenants with their Heavenly Father, and that one of those covenants is baptism. They understand better, and I've seen that they feel the spirit more when they understand and know the end goal. In the same way, I don't have to be careful with what I say, or try to hide things until the "right time" to tell them. The Spirit works through openness, and I can see it working in their hearts when I am open with them.

This week we also had a Noche Misional de Barrio, the mission night. We watched Johnny Lingo and we invited all of our investigators to come. Sadly, it was very poor timing. There was a soccer game between Peru and Chile and everyone wanted to watch that. It ended up just being us and a few members. However, I did learn that Johnny Lingo is hilarious is Spanish, or at least it was for me. We got a few referrals from the members, at least, so it wasn't a complete waste of times.

Lastly, I finally finished the Book of Mormon in Spanish and it has been so cool! My testimony of that book has grown so strong and through that, my testimony of Christ as my Savior, has also grown so much. I know that book is true, that it is the word of God, and I know that this is his Church. I have seen, so many times, the hand of God helping us in this work and I know that I am only an instrument in His hands.

I hope all is well back home. Let me know if anything crazy happens.

Love y'all! Talk to you next week.
