First Christmas in the mission field! The work progresses!

Glynis here: We are impatiently counting down the hours until we get to talk to Jacob on Christmas day! It is surely a blessing to be able to see his face and hear his voice! How we love our Elder!

Feliz Navidad a todos!!

Merry Christmas! It probably feels a lot more like Christmas for you guys than for me. Here, in Iquitos, it's still a good 80 degrees Fahrenheit with about 10,000,000% humidity! But hey, asi es la vida. I am very grateful to be here, I can feel my testimony growing a lot, and I love the work. This week has been special because I'm getting ready for christmas and I am so excited to see my family! This week we also had a lot of activities for Christmas, so we have had some good contacts with some new investigators.

We invited our investigator, Jackie, who is preparing for baptism, to a family home evening with the YSA. We watched some Christmas videos from the church and overall had a great time. I shared some cool family traditions with them and we had a lot of fun. Speaking of Jackie, she is so excited for her baptism! She is growing in her testimony and is excited to take that first step. I can see that we are really helping her, and now it's just going to be a matter of helping her family understand the importance of the church and God in their lives.

OH YEAH! Also this week, Elder Quezada and I had a great idea. We have started giving English classes every Wednesday night at 7, and we have been inviting literally everyone! This week was the first one, and It was so much fun! I taught them how to pray in English, and a lot of the church vocabulary. The great thing is that a lot of investigators and members showed up and we were able to incorporate a lesson about prayer as we taught them English.

This week also was the Christmas multi-zone conference. We were there for literally the entire day, from 8 am to 9 pm. It was a whole lot of fun. We had a lot of messages about mission work and a few testimonies from returned missionaries, then we sang Christmas carols and performed the Nativity story. I was a wise man! It was pretty great. We also had an amazing Christmas dinner with turkey and fruit! That was awesome because I haven't eaten turkey in so long! All in all, the Christmas conference was awesome, and we had a blast!

That's about it for this week. I am so excited to see my family, and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas! Ciao!
