Agency Brings About Miracles

A baptism, Leadership council, and some wise words about agency.
Glynis here: Jacob is such a wonder! It's so amazing to read his letters and to see my little boy grow into a spiritual man. I love that he is able to teach his family here at home just as much as he teaches his investigators.
Hello!
This week was pretty good. We started off with a really high point: a baptism.
On Saturday I baptized the convert of the Sisters in my district. His name Is Marcelo and he is 13, but he knows a ton. His baptism was good, he was a little nervous but afterwards he swam around in the baptismal font. His grandma made chicha morada and some little sandwiches and they were delicious. Chicha morada is this purple corn drink, they usually prepare it with lemon juice too and it´s actually so good.
In other news, this week was Consejo de Líderes, leadership council. We talked a lot about using your agency and that´s how miracles come. President and Sister Parker used an example from Ether. When the brother of Jared makes the boats to cross the ocean and they have 3 problems:
1. How will they steer
2. How will they breath
3. How will they have light
Basically, the Lord responded to each one in a different way. With the first, all they had to do was trust the Lord, that He would steer the ships through the ocean. With the second, the Lord gave him instructions and he just had to be obedient in making the hole and the cover. With the third problem, the Lord asked the Brother of Jared to come up with a plan to have light in his ship. We all know the story from there, he went, and he melted rocks and asked the Lord to touch each of them.
The whole point of this story was to show us that there are different ways that the Lord works, sometimes we just have to trust, sometimes we have to obey, and sometimes we have to use our own agency to come up with a solution. But the interesting thing is that when the Brother of Jared had to come up with his own plan, he was granted the opportunity to see the Lord Jesus Christ. When we use our agency to do something God wants us to do, miracles happen. Also, God trusts in us so much more than if we are just obedient to a set of rules. Anyway, I liked Council a lot and I learned a bunch.
It was a pretty good week too, we had some good lessons and the weather is starting to change. The river is really low now, and where the river was there is now a whole soccer field where people play, and that one floating restaurant is now on the ground. Welcome to summer.
