A transfer, some mountains, a new companion, and cooler weather! A very busy week for Elder Neves.

Saying good-bye to Iquitos after almost 6 months.

Hello Everyone!!!

How are you all doing?!? I am doing GREAT! I have some huge news..... I finally got a call for transfers, and there are 2 new things you should know about me. 1) I'm no longer in Iquitos, and 2) I am training my first "son." His name is Elder Martinez, fresh from the MTC, and he's from Mexico. And now, you are all wondering where I am since I just told you I'm no longer in Iquitos. I got transferred to a small city called Moyobamba! It is apparently the best area in the mission. It's located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, where the mountains meet the jungle. It's so pretty. Really! It's still super hot, but in the mornings, it is pretty cold. I already love it here. The mountains are so nice, they remind me of home. We have this huge window in our apartment that overlooks the city and you can see the mountains. The only downside to Moyobamba is that apparently the people here are very stubborn. We've already had some weird encounters. Oh well!

We didn't actually get here until Friday. We were supposed to leave on Tuesday, but our flight got delayed about a million times in Iquitos because of the weather. Eventually, on Friday, we made it to the airport in Tarapoto, then took a 3 hour drive through the jungle (oh, yeah, here there are roads that connect the city, unlike Iquitos!), and then finally we made it to Moyobamba. Our biggest difficulty right now is that we are opening the area, that means that both my companion and I are new in the area. In other words, we don't know where the investigators live, where the members live, where the chapel is, where our pensionista is, or where our house is! We ended up having to call our Zone Leader, and he showed us around a little bit. It's been kind of stressful, I'm not going to lie. We have gotten lost about a million times in the short time we have been here, just looking for people. The great thing is Elder Martinez and I are super excited to be here, and we are contacting like crazy!

The view from our apartment! Mountains!!!

We had a baptism last Saturday, too. Not one of my converts, because I wasn't here, but she was a convert of the previous missionaries. We also have 3 people who have a baptismal date! They are a family who are extremely prepared. We brought them to the baptism on Saturday, and they all felt the Spirit so strongly! The father's name is Vicente, the mother is Luz, and their daughter is Valentina. In a later visit they told us they are so excited to get baptized. We have to get them married first, though, but they are excited about that, as well, so there shouldn't be too many problems there.

Our apartment.

Overall, this week has been very overwhelming, but we here in Moyo have the Lord on our side and my "son," Elder Martinez, is a hard worker. Training him has been really fun so far. I hope you are all doing well. I love you guys!!
